SBIRT Certification Plan
Initial Certification Requirements for: SBIRT Certification
- Participate in 3 hour SBIRT training.
- Conduct observed simulation at SBIRT Training and Resource Center using BNI with screening tool.
- Meet with SBIRT resource center staff to review SBIRT concepts and debrief observed simulation.
*Certification will be valid for 2 years upon completion of observed simulation.
Continued Certification Requirements for: SBIRT Certification
- Complete 1 hour SBIRT Training and Resource Center approved CE training every two years (either electronic or in-person).
- Conduct observed simulation at SBIRT Training and Resource Center using BNI with screening tool.
*Certification will be valid for 2 years upon completion of observed simulation.
Initial Certification Requirements for: SBIRT Trainer
- Completion of all requirements for initial SBIRT certification.
- Review SBIRT training materials provided by SBIRT resource center staff.
- Observe 3 hour SBIRT training.
- Conduct observed simulation of BNI with screening tool.
- Meet with SBIRT resource center staff to review SBIRT concepts and debrief observed simulation.
- Co-facilitate SBIRT training with SBIRT resource center staff.
- Conduct observed training.
- Debrief observed training with SBIRT resource center staff.
*Certification will be valid for 2 years upon completion debrief of observed training.
Continued Certification Requirements for: SBIRT Trainer
- Complete 1 hour SBIRT CE training every two years (either electronic or in-person).
- Conduct observed simulation at SBIRT Training and Resource Center using BNI with screening tool.
- Facilitate a minimum of two 3 hour SBIRT trainings per year.
*Certification will be valid for 2 years upon completion of observed simulation.
